On Friday 1st July Springwell held its first careers morning as part of our PSHE topic on careers and the world of work. Pupils from years 7, 8, 9 &10 from school and some pupils from our Alternative Academies talked to further education providers to discuss their options after leaving year eleven. A massive thank you to the further education providers who came: ITS, Barnsley College, Fleets, YH – Military Prep Course, TIAG, Barnsley Football Club, Police, Apire IGEN and DVC.
As part of their topic on careers Year Nine have been role playing making telephone calls to colleges and businesses and going into a business and asking if there are any job vacancies and asking for an application form.
Professor Van Helsing recruited the pupils in Year Eight to help him track down and slay the vampire that has been terrorising Springwell. Pupils gathered their vampire slaying kit and followed the clues that Professor Van Helsing had set them.
There have been sightings of a vampire at Springwell. No one is safe!
Year seven pupils acted out a science fiction play about aliens and UFOs.
As an introduction to our Elements topic on horror year eight pupils went into the heart space and told each other horror stories in the dark. Spooky!
Key Stage Three pupils had their dress rehearsal for their performance of Macbeth for the Shakespeare Festival. The dress rehearsal went really well and everyone has worked extremely hard. I am looking forward to the performance which is tomorrow at 10am. Break a leg guys!
