Learning about sound

We did some experiments to find out how sound happens. We found out about vibrations with jumping drum skins, vibrations from twanging rulers, water splashing from vibrating tuning forks and vibrating reeds on hand made straw pipes.


We used a games to learn our phonics.

Primary 2 learning about the space race in the 1960s

As part of our elements topic we have looked at the race to become to First Nation to send humans into space. We even designed our own rockets and fired them using compressed air!

Today in year 9 pupils hot seated characters from Hamlet in connection with Hamlet’s disappearance. Some of the pupils were in role too.

Todays visitor was answering questions about space!

Year 9 Elements 

Year 9 pupils became investigative journalists. They were asked by their editor to investigate the rise of teenage running away from home.  They were given a tip off that someone had been sleeping rough on the school grounds. They found a bag and sleeping bag. They came back to the newspaper headquarters to look at the clues to see who this runaway was and why they’d run away from home. 

Biking Bonanza!

On Tuesday, pupils at Kirk Balk enjoyed an amazing afternoon in Doncaster out on the bikes! They faced terrifying jumps, enormous hills and fantastic trails!
